Wera welcomes Nick Clegg to Middleton

Heywood and Middleton Parliamentary Spokesman Councillor Wera Hobhouse recently welcomed Nick Clegg, Lib Dem leadership contender and Shadow Home Secretary on his flying visit to the Rochdale area, along with taking time out to discuss local issues in Heywood and Middleton he talked about his ambitions for leading the party.

He took the time to speak to Rhoda Morley, Councillor Wera Hobhouse and the local Lib Dem team about the recent by election in Middleton North.

Councillor Hobhouse comments: “I was grateful that Nick Clegg took time out from his busy schedule to congratulate Rhoda and the local Lib Dem team on the fantastic result in Middleton North by Election; this shows the importance of places like Heywood and Middleton to the Liberal Democrats nationally.  This is one place to watch in the future as we are now officially the only party capable of beating Labour according to the Conservative leader in his councillor diary entry.”

Nick Clegg said: “I was pleased that Middleton Lib Dems got a 21.3% swing at the recent Middleton North by-election, Wera and her team should be congratulated on this amazing result, I look forward to local residents in Heywood and Middleton voting for positive change with Wera and her local team.”
