Help shape new health centre

Date published: 15 November 2007

Patients are being encouraged to give their views about the new multi-million pound healthcare centre for Wardleworth and Hamer.

The business case for the LIFT centre has recently been approved by the Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale PCT Board. The new centre will be built on the site of the former Croft Mill, Bellfield Road.

It will be a hub for children’s services and house family doctors including a new GP practice. Other services will include healthy lifestyles promotion, mental health services, pharmacy and dental services.

Members of the community are being invited to give their views through the Wardleworth amp; Hamer Panel. The proposals were discussed in detail at the panel on 30 October.

Ian Mello-Baron, Divisional Head of Strategy for Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale PCT, said: “The PCT has committed to work with the new health and education sub-group established by the Panel, to discuss local health needs in the area. We are already working together to look at community access to the centre.”

Building work on the Wardleworth and Hamer Centre is due to start in Spring 2008 and is expected to be completed by Autumn 2009.
