Sandbrook Community Primary School presented Macmillan Cancer Support with a cheque after raising a staggering £1,500 for the charity.
A representative from Macmillan was presented with the cheque by the school’s chair of governors at a special assembly on Friday (30 November).
The funds were raised through four different events earlier this year.
First up was a staff bake-off on 25 September, where the staff baked a cake and all the staff voted for the one they liked best. The Maltesers cake won, made by Miss Lockwood.
The cakes were then donated for the next event, which was the Macmillan coffee afternoon on 26 September.
Extended schools co-ordinator at Sandbrook, Sameara Sheikh said: “The response was amazing and we were overwhelmed with generous donations. Our coffee event had a brilliant turn out, plus a game of bingo, and so much support was given.”
A sponsored walk for the whole school was then organised for the whole school.
With cake and biscuit donations coming in, the school held another cake sale, resulting in a total of £1,500.64 being raised for the charity.
Ms Sheikh added: “We at Sandbrook are very proud of our achievement. The team work and support allowed us to raise such an incredible amount.
"We thank everyone who helped us, and this shows the great relationships we have as a community and a school."
