RBH EGM finally goes ahead

Date published: 15 November 2007

Rochdale Boroughwide Housing's (RBH) Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) took place today and completed the business left over from the aborted AGM of 25 September in not much over 10 minutes.

Council Leader Alan Taylor was present and the Council's sole vote was - unlike at the AGM - used to approved the listed items.

As a result, the Board's Chairwoman Gill Walch has been re-appointed as a Director for a second term; Keith Gordon has retired as the Director from Heywood and been replaced by Heather Stott. Among the Independent Board members, Ian Harlow and Ian Agnew have now been formally appointed.

The Report of the Directors and the Auditors and the audited accounts for the period ended 31 March 2007 have been received and KPMG appointed as external auditors.

Area Boards have now been formally removed from RBH's Memorandum and Articles to be replaced by Boroughwide and Area Panels.

RoFTRA Cheif David Bartlett said: "There is, as yet, no explanation from either the Council or RBH as to what has changed since the Council refused to approve these actions seven weeks ago at the AGM that make it possible for them to do so now."

RBH's AGM on Tuesday 25 September was initially postponed on the day, then reconvened only for the Council's representative, Margaret Carney, to announce that the Council had decided to cancel it as the Council "no longer had confidence in the Board".
