HMR Circle celebrates taking over 30,000 social bookings

Date published: 13 November 2018

HMR Circle recently celebrated taking 30,000 social bookings, as their mission to reduce social isolation in older people continues to be a success.

From their modest start in 2012, Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale (HMR) Circle have built and grown the organisation and in the last few weeks, passed the incredible landmark of taking over 30,000 bookings.

Originally hosting six attendees, the group have continued to grow to where they are today with over 800 members now accessing the social, practical and befriending services available. A volunteer drivers service is also on hand.

HMR Circle director Mark Wynn said: “A huge thank you to all our members and all our partners, in particularly Rochdale Boroughwide Housing, without their support none of this would have been possible.”

HMR Circle as an organisation was incorporated in the summer of 2012. Their first event was held on 6 November 2012 at the Olde Boars Head, Middleton with six older people attending. Today, there are over 800 members.

Working hard with older people to understand what they wanted from HMR Circle, and what activities and services they would like, HMR Circle designed their first ever social calendar. After six years, this social calendar has triumphed within the community.
