The poppy display in the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre
Visitors to the Wheatsheaf Centre can view the amazing craftwork produced by pupils in three local primary schools.
The Wheatsheaf Centre has been overwhelmed by the fantastic poppy display contributions crafted by local pupils.
In conjunction with Town Centre Chaplain Margaret Smith, the Centre invited pupils to put together what they have learnt about World War One, and have combined their touching tributes to make a display to mark the 100th anniversary.
Centre manager Mark Foxley said: “Thank you to everyone who has been involved in making this happen, the pupils have produced some very touching artwork. Everyone has been overwhelmed with the quality of the work and the knowledge and enthusiasm shown."
The pupils involved in the project were from the following schools:
- Whittaker Moss Primary School
- St James Primary School
- Newhey Primary School
- Shawclough Primary School
The poppy display is on the Lower Mall (adjacent to Russell’s Café outdoor seating area) from Saturday 3 November until Monday 12 November to allow the community of Rochdale to fully appreciate the talented effort of everyone involved.
