Pride of Britain winner Ella Chadwick won Lorraine Kelly’s heart on Tuesday (6 November) with her positive outlook on life and her desire to help others - even Angus the dog.

Visiting the studio to talk about The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards, in partnership with TSB, which aired last night on ITV, 11-year-old Ella had thoughtfully brought along some treats for Lorraine’s pet pooch.

Lorraine gushed of her positivity: “You should be available on the NHS.

“Angus will love that - that’s so kind of you. You’re always thinking of other people and even little dogs as well”.

Ella, from Whitworth, was awarded a Child of Courage award for her bravery in October, which was televised on during the Pride of Britain awards on Tuesday evening (6 November).

Born with a rare kidney disease, congenital nephrotic syndrome, Ella survived 40 gruelling operations in her first six years before having a lifesaving kidney donated from her grandmother.

Even after her tough start in life, Ella has never let that stop her, pouring all of her determined efforts into supporting the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, which looked after her, and raising funds to help other sick children.

She has also made hundreds of get well cards to help children in hospital.
