Ascot Ladies Day 2018 at Nutters

Date published: 26 June 2018

The 14th Ascot Ladies Day was held at Nutters Restaurant on Thursday 21 June.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Rochdale in association with the Rochdale Branch of the NSPCC, 123 ladies and six men, all dressed in their finery enjoyed a meal of pan seared seabass gremolata and smoked haddock with a pea and parmesan arancini, followed by golden roast chicken supreme and then finished off with an Ascot mess, a refined creation of the old school classic Eton mess.

Four races were shown on screens around the restaurant, with the runners and riders cheered on by the guests. They had picked their winners as part of the race game and tote, with bottles of champagne, one of which was sponsored by Rochdale Online, for the three best punters.

The raffle had 15 prizes ranging from a hamper of wine to a novelty bowl.

Bob Chadwick, chairman of organising committee said: “Andrew Nutter took great pleasure in announcing the winners and presenting the prizes.

“Andrew also judged the Best Hat competition which was won by Emma Allwork.

There was a separate raffle for a meal for two at Nutters restaurant which raised almost £800 for the NSPCC.

“Janice Powell and Doug Sutton, Presidents of Middleton and Rochdale East Rotary Clubs were amongst the guests, as they have both been raising funds for the NSPCC during their Presidential years.

“At the end of the day, the event had raised £4,307.10. In addition, long standing supporters, Fisherfield Childcare, presented a cheque for £8,052.32 from their fund-raising activities over the last 12 months.

“Next year sees the 15th anniversary Ascot Ladies Day and will be held on Thursday 20 June 2019. It is hoped to make it a very special sell-out event.”
