Riverside Restaurant adds a sprinkling of gold to its accolades

Date published: 25 June 2018

Hopwood Hall College’s Riverside Restaurant expanded their list of accolades by achieving a Gold Accreditation from the provider network People First.

The Rochdale restaurant is operated by hospitality and catering learners studying at the College – under the management of their tutors and the restaurant manager.

Already holders of the AA’s highest rating, ‘Highly Commended’, the Riverside Restaurant can now add a Gold Accreditation to its list of independent awards.

The Riverside Restaurant joins only four other college-run restaurants in the North West to have earned a Gold Accreditation. In total, only 29 colleges in the whole of the UK hold the rating.

With Rochdale’s new £80m shopping and leisure development well under way, having a fine dining restaurant with multiple accolades bodes well for the redevelopment of the town centre.

Joanne Ashton, restaurant manager at the Riverside Restaurant, said: “We’re all extremely proud to have earned another award, day in day out our students and staff put everything into this restaurant to ensure clients have the best possible experience.

“Our online reviews from customers are overwhelmingly positive, so it’s nice to have another official organisation also recognise the work we do.

“It’s a big achievement for our students more than anyone else. They can go into employment after finishing their course, able to claim that they have furthered their skills at one of the top restaurants in the North West. They only have themselves and their work ethic to thank for that.”

The Riverside Restaurant is run in college term time only and is located on the ground floor of Hopwood Hall College’s Rochdale campus.
