An open day at a Rochdale GP practice raised money for charity.

The Kingsway Practice held the open day to register new patients and raise money for Springhill Hospice and Brain Tumour UK.

Springhill mascot 'Springy' and Mayor Mohammed Zaman were in attendance, meeting with staff members, Dr Yaser Javed, Lisa Dodd and Shona.

Refreshments were provided, a raffle with great prizes was held, and staff were available to check blood pressure, offer advice on diabetes and provide useful tips on health and wellbeing.

In total, £50 was raised for Brain Tumour UK and £40 for Springhill Hospice.

Senior Administrator Rachel Buckley said: “We chose Brain Tumour UK as it is very close to the practice manager’s heart and because it was brain tumour awareness month. We also chose Springhill Hospice as they looked after my mum and because they do a fantastic job.

“We had a great day and thank everyone for coming.”

Mayor Zaman said: “Staff provided information on whole person healthcare and various clinics they run for the benefit of their patients.

“Not many people may be aware of this practice, which is ideally located with good, transport network, parking facilities and services. The practice welcomes new patients.”
