Heywood thunderstorm

Date published: 05 June 2018

Thunder and lightning storms were captured on camera in Heywood on Friday (1 June).

Cracking photos of forked lightning streaking across the sky during the storm were taken by Tony Munro in Heywood centre and in Queen’s Park.

Despite the show lighting up the sky, parts of Heywood also flooded during the storms.

Wilton Grove, near Pot Hall Bridge, Waterfold Lane, and Pilsworth Road, under the Broadfield Railway Bridge, all flooded, resulting in at least one person calling the fire brigade to their rescue.
