Mental Health Awareness Day at Deeplish Community Centre
A mental health awareness day took place at Deeplish Community Centre on 14 May during Mental Health Awareness Week.
The health and wellbeing project provides regular weekly sessions to engage with and support those who are isolated, stressed or feel lonely, whilst improving access for the elderly, frail and less mobile.
Maniza Bi, community health co-ordinator, said: “Stress is everywhere in life and its linked to our mental health. In the UK, one in six adults experience depression, anxiety or problems relating to stress at any one time.
“Our regular sessions are designed to help and support users with mental, physical and any other health related issues. We are proud to run this group from Deeplish Community Centre on a weekly basis.”
Sohail Ahmad, Operations manager, said: “Supporting people to manage their own health and wellbeing is our priority, and we try our best to support local people by way of providing various activities, events and sessions at the centre.”
