Date published: 08 May 2018

A passenger was cut free from a car following a collision at the junction of Manchester Road and Drake Street on Sunday morning (6 May).

The two vehicles, a silver car and a red Kia, collided at the junction next to the traffic lights. One driver was arrested for drink driving and the other driver, who was cut free from the vehicle, sustained minor injuries.

A passerby said: “I went past at about 6am when the fire service were cutting the roof from a red car. It looked pretty serious and I hope everyone is okay.”

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “One driver was arrested for drink driving; thankfully the driver of the Kia sustained minor injuries.”
