Record numbers make ‘every moment count’ for Hospice care

Record numbers stepped out to support Springhill Hospice at this year’s Hospice to Hospice walk.

The annual event, now in its 12th year, saw an incredible 537 walkers plus many four legged friends walk the 7.25 mile circular route for Springhill, stopping at neighbouring Hospice Dr Kershaw’s, for refreshments, along the way.

Hospice mascot, Springy the frog was greeted by walkers who had donned fancy dress outfits and fabulous froggy accessories to get into the Springhill spirit.

Emily Kennedy, Head of Business Development and Fundraising at Springhill Hospice, said, “We are delighted that 1,100 people stepped out for the sponsored walk, supporting local Hospice care at Springhill and Dr Kershaw’s. The support and dedication of everyone who was involved in the event plays a vital part in the care we can provide to those from our local community.”

The Springhill Team praised the efforts of the participants who took on the challenge of walking the event and also those who gave up their time to marshal the route, serve refreshments and volunteer at registration.

Emily added: “We are indebted to the fantastic support we get from the local community who participate in our fundraising events and campaigns, our wonderful volunteers, and those who help and support the Hospice in other ways.

“It was wonderful to see so many people from our local community come together and put their best foot forward to make every moment count for families, friends and neighbours who need the support of Springhill.”
