Local woman running Great Manchester Run in memory of Joshua McCormack

A local woman is taking on the 10k Great Manchester Run in May in memory of five-year-old Joshua McCormack.
Vickie Mason, from Littleborough, is hoping to raise £600 for Kidscan in the brave little boy’s memory, after her aim of completing six different challenges between May 2017 and May 2018.
She said: “Big or small, all donations are in memory of young Josh McCormack, raising money towards Kidscan children’s charity.”
Nicknamed ‘Whitworth’s Superhero,’ Josh touched the hearts of many, with thousands of people following his courageous fight. Sadly, he lost his long battle with a cancerous brain tumour in January 2017, then the only child of his parents, Kevin and Nicola McCormack.
The couple have since had a second child, Josh’s longed-for sibling, named Zachary Joshua, in honour of his brave big brother.
Kidscan Children’s Cancer Research is a Salford-based charity that funds and manages research into new and improved treatments for children with cancer, the leading cause of children’s death in the UK.
The Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run will take place on Sunday 20 May. Over 40,000 runners will enter the televised event, which winds its way through Manchester centre.
