Livsey Street plagued by ongoing fly-tipping

Livsey Street in Rochdale has been plagued by ongoing fly-tipping for approximately 12 months.

The area is understood to have become ‘infested’ with mice and rats, according to a local resident, due to the stacks of black bin bags littering the alleyway where residents' bins are kept.

He said: “This is disgusting; this fly-tipping has been going on for over 12, 13 months and it's causing mice and rats.”

Martin Taylor, Head of Environmental Management at Rochdale Borough Council, said: "We are aware of the issues in and around Livsey Street and our officers attend on a regular basis both to try to engage with, and advise the local community.

"They also try to recover evidence from any fly-tipped waste. We have written to all residents asking for their co-operation and assistance.

"Anyone with any information regarding those responsible for the fly-tipped waste should call the Rochdale Council Contact Centre on 0300 303 8884. All information received will be kept in the strictest confidence."
