Hamer Primary School

Date published: 23 April 2018

This week, the community cohesion ambassadors were out at Marland Hill Primary school to work in their groups of three with a student from the sixth form college.

The group look at ways in which the future of Rochdale could be shaped positively. In the morning, the group looked at the different types of families in our community and designed Mardi Gras-style floats to celebrate every type of family unit we could think of!  At Hamer School, it is important to us all that every household is equal.

In the afternoon, the children worked with the Council’s town planners and looked at the ways in which the construction industry work with the council to generate local enterprise and make Rochdale an even better place to live and work.  The group were, as ever, intellectually and practically outstanding and their work is on the website for all to celebrate. Well done Community Cohesion Ambassadors.

The EYFS children were visited on Friday 20 April by some people who came to teach us all about various creatures ranging from cockroaches to snakes to increase our understanding of insects and animals.  Check out the pictures on the school website!

Health drop ins are taking place on Wednesday 25 April 9-11am.Parents can make a prior appointment with Mrs. Coward or drop-in on the day.

The E-safety Assembly will take place on Thursday 26 April at 9am for parents and children and we look forward to seeing as many parents there as possible.  Year 5 and 6 children will be assisting in delivering the assembly alongside Mr Nadin and Mrs Coward.

Well done to Mr. Barraclough’s class who had the highest percentage of attendance over the Spring Term. They have enjoyed celebrating this afternoon with an extra-fun session with “Sally Samba” followed by a movie in class.

We aim for 100% attendance where possible, expect no holiday requests during term time and strive for children to be on time, in school and LEARNING every day.

A reminder to all parents of children starting Reception in September 2018 Please ensure that you accept the place by returning the letter or emailing your confirmation to the local authority.  It is really important that you do this quickly to avoid disappointment as we are usually very full in Reception and often with people waiting to accept any places that are not taken up.  Thank you.
