Lorry hit scaffolding in Heywood

A lorry hit scaffolding on Bury Street, Heywood at 2.47pm on Thursday (12 April).

Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue attended, along with Rochdale Council building control.

The road was closed in both directions whilst the scaffolding was dismantled.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue said: "Fire crews were called at 2.47pm to reports of a collision between a HGV and a commercial building.

"We sent one fire engine from Heywood, plus a Technical Response Unit and Major Rescue Unit from Leigh. Crews were in attendance for approximately two hours and 45 minutes, using a saw to remove the scaffolding, a nine metre ladder and stability monitoring."
