Planning application submitted for canal boat café

Date published: 03 April 2018

A planning application has been submitted for the permanent mooring of a canal boat café in Littleborough.

The boat would be situated adjacent to the Canal Street car park for use as a takeaway and the sale of refreshments under the A5 hot food takeaways class. In addition to the installation of the canal boat, there would also be a backup generator, required for power.

Two-part time employees are proposed per shift, with volunteers removing recyclable waste from the boat. Food and packaging waste would be disposed of in provided bins stored at Brookfield Mill.

The application has been submitted by John Kay of the Littleborough Marina Community Interest Company, and requisite notice served to the Canal and River Trust.

To date, two objections have been submitted.
