Shelby Bros take over The Wellington

Date published: 01 April 2018

The Wellington was 'occupied' by The Shelby Bros and their motley crew on Saturday as owners Michael and Sarah Howarth hosted a sell-out evening of flat caps, gambling, dining, 1920s jazz, whiskey, rum and gin - by order of The Peaky Blinders.

Speaking to Rochdale Online, Mr & Mrs Howarth said: “It has created a huge amount of interest; it has given a great opportunity for the ladies to dress up, it is a truly glamorous era."

The Howarths have really taken the Peaky Blinders theme to heart and have bought the company name 'Shelby Bros Ltd'.

They said: "We are excited, this will open the door to many new opportunities, watch this space."

Speaking of the renaissance of the town centre, which the refurbished Wellington is a key part of, Mr & Mrs Howarth said: "It is wonderful to be part of the changing face of Rochdale.”

And paraphrasing the Peaky Blinders: “Those of you who are last will soon be first and those of you who are downtrodden Rochdale will rise up.”
