Cricket club juniors distribute food to homeless

Date published: 28 March 2018

Juniors at a local cricket club took to the streets of Manchester on Sunday (25 March), giving out bags of food to the homeless.

As part of their pre-season training, Milnrow Cricket Club spoke about helping others and gave the juniors ideas of how they could help their community.

The under-11s wanted to help the homeless and made 80 bags containing a bottle of water, banana, sandwich and chocolate bar.  They then distributed them around Manchester on Sunday afternoon.

Elizabeth Ashworth, one of the juniors, said: “I really enjoyed helping others and working together as a team to do a good deed. I was a bit worried about meeting homeless people because you don't know what they are going to be like and if they will be friendly, but they were all kind and said thank you and were grateful.”

Fraser Cragg also really enjoyed it, he said: “I felt proud to help the homeless. Everyone we gave a bag to were so happy and said thank you. They called us all angels and I would love to do it again.”
