Postal addresses for homeless offered through local charity

Date published: 28 March 2018

A ‘care of’ postal address is offered to Rochdale’s homeless population through a local charity.

Petrus offers a facility for anyone presenting as homeless in the borough. After registering at the Petrus Hub on Great George Street, Rochdale, individuals are given a ‘care of’ address which can be used for all correspondence, vital for accessing necessary services such as banking, health services or benefits.

Shelter, the housing and homeless charity, says that those who do not have a fixed address can use the address of a hostel or day centre (if sleeping on the streets), or that of a friend or family member, to claim benefits. These addresses can also be used to register at a doctor’s surgery to register with a GP.
