Get involved in Manchester Science Festival 2018

Applications are now open for people and organisations interested in taking part in this year’s Manchester Science Festival. Last year, 114 partners helped the festival team deliver 112 unique events across the whole of Greater Manchester, from Rochdale to Bolton, Stockport to the city centre.

Examples of events from last year include a fascinating tour of Stockport’s underground bomb shelters, incorporating the history of antibiotics, a hands-on workshop expiring the art of Foley sound recording and an experimental look at the links between maths and music.

For families, there was star gazing at Jodrell Bank, a “spooky science” family rave and experimental gaming with Lead Educational Sponsors the University of Salford.

Academic partners are particularly encouraged to get involved in Pi:Platform for Investigation, powered by Siemens, a daily event where the latest cutting – edge scientific research is presented in interactive and innovative ways.

Antonio Benitez, Director of the Manchester Science Festival, said: “Our fantastic festival wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated and creative partners, who amaze me every year with the depth and ingenuity of their ideas for festival events. I would like to invite all those partners to get in touch with their ideas for this year’s festival, as well as encouraging new partners to get in touch with our friendly team who will guide them through the process. Together, we can make this year’s festival even better, bolder and more exciting.”

Proposals should be submitted  by Friday 13 April.
