Children’s day nursery celebrates 10 years in historic listed building

A Middleton children’s day nursery located in the listed Edgar Wood building in Middleton will celebrate its 10th birthday on Saturday (24 March).

Squirrels Children’s Day Nursery opened at Temple Street Baptist Church in March 2008 to "deliver high quality childcare to families from the local community and surrounding areas".

As part of the celebrations, Squirrels will have an awards ceremony for the team, followed by a party and fun day for past and present families and employees.

The nursery began with three staff, a decade later it now employs sixteen staff members alongside two of the original team.

Nominations for the awards have been made by both parents and the staff team, prizes range from spa days, afternoon tea, to a full body massage.

Party celebrations will include a bouncy castle, ball pool, sweet cart, buffet and special golden ticket discounts for new and existing families.

Manager Maxine Flint said: “We are delighted to be marking this milestone anniversary and celebrating with some amazing people. We’ve seen a lot change in 10 years – both within our nursery and in the early years sector in general; but we continue to love the challenge and are looking forward to the next 10 years and beyond and to continuing to make a real, positive and lasting difference in people’s lives.

“A big thank you to all of the Squirrels team who have made our nursery such a success over the past decade and who help us continue to grow and go from strength-to-strength.

“Finally, a huge thank you to each and every family we have had the privilege to meet over the years. It has been such a wonderful journey with you all; we are extremely grateful to you for allowing us to be part of your children’s lives. We look forward to making lots more friends going forward and to welcoming many more people to this unique service.”
