Reward offered after barber's window smashed

Date published: 15 March 2018

A reward has been offered for information leading to conviction after a window was smashed at a popular Norden barber shop.

A window at the Bridge Barbers was smashed at some point overnight between Wednesday and Thursday (14 and 15 March). It was discovered around 7am by a friend of Sarah Stuttard, who runs the business.

She said: “I’m furious. It’s left such a mess from where they’ve smashed the window with the bread crate from the chippy, and the LED ‘open’ sign. Luckily, they’ve not been in, but the window was toughened glass. It would have been really loud and someone must have heard it.

“I’m happy to offer a reward for information that leads to the conviction of the actual person who’s done this.”

This is the second time the windows of the barbers have been smashed, following a previous incident in October. Sarah is also in the process of reviewing CCTV footage.

She addedd: “I’ve been in this since I was 19. I’ve thrown four years into this and it does set you back. Last time this happened, I didn’t sleep for weeks because I was hoping the shop would be okay. I’d like to have shutters but they’re just too expensive for a small business like mine.”

“The support I’ve had from the people in Norden has been great though. People have been asking if I’m okay. My dad boarded the window for me and people stood outside watching the shop for me. Some of my clients helped clear the mess,” she added.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed: "At around 8.30am on Thursday 15 March, police were called to reports of criminal damage at a barbers shop on Edenfield Road in Norden.

"An unknown offender had damaged the shop window the night before.

"Enquiries into the full circumstances around this incident are ongoing.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 397 of 15/03/18."
