Hundreds of drivers have spent the night stranded in their cars in Greater Manchester due to snow, ice and strong winds.

Some have been stuck for over 12 hours and the M62 is currently closed in both directions between junction 24 and 21 due to high winds.

Emergency services and mountain rescue teams say they're doing all they can to reach stranded drivers in terrible conditions.

Greater Manchester Police are advising against all non-essential travel.
