Conservatives did not put an alternative budget forward

Date published: 28 February 2018

The Conservatives on Rochdale Council did not put an alternative budget forward at Wednesday evening's Budget Council, though they did suggest getting rid of Trade Union representatives and also suggested special constables in the borough have their council tax reduced by 50%.

The leader of the Conservatives, Councillor Ashley Dearnley said: "We are having no part in party politics as it would not be in the best interest of the borough to produce a budget with 'mickey mouse accountancy', which shows complete disregard of the public."
