Eight-year-old girl raises £300 for charity with haircut

Date published: 14 February 2018

A local eight-year-old girl has raised £300 for the Little Princess Trust by cutting her hair for the charity.

Aimee Galloway, from Castleton, had 14.5 inches of her hair cut, which she donated to the charity along with the money raised.

The Little Princess Trust supplies children with conditions that result in hair loss, such as alopecia or chemotherapy. 120g of hair is required for each wig, which is approximately five to seven donations. A minimum donation of seven inches is required.

Mum Nikki Galloway explained: “Aimee decided to have her hair cut when she heard about The Little Princess Trust because she wanted the change to make sick little girls happy.”

The St Edwards’ pupil originally aimed to raise £100, but wanted to raise £350 – the cost of providing one wig. After the cut on 3 February at Castleton salon ChiChis, Aimee has raised an impressive £300 towards the cause.

Nikki added: “Aimee is very happy she raised £300. Myself and her dad, Todd, very proud of her, in fact all our family are proud. She’s been so positive about the whole thing and she has contributed to a great cause.”
