Bus stops moved on Oldham Road

Date published: 12 February 2018

The two bus stops have been taken out of service on Oldham Road, Rochdale.

The bus stops are between Ainsworth Street and Dodgson Street/Fishwick Street.

This is to facilitate a new access road/junction to give access to Lincoln Street and the railway station as well as the park and ride.

Andrew Storey, the council’s head of highways, said: “The new road layout will provide easier access to the railway station as well as the park and ride.

“The bus stops have been slightly moved, but are still within a short walk of businesses, shops and other amenities.”

A Transport for Greater Manchester transport said: “Following further consultations with Rochdale Council and Greater Manchester Police, we have amended the proposals slightly.

“For passengers travelling towards Rochdale, a temporary stop will be located on lamppost number 21 further along Oldham Road and the shelter will be removed in the next couple of weeks.

“For passengers travelling towards Royton, the stop and the shelter will remain in current location until later in the construction scheme, when it will need to be temporarily relocated.

“The stops will be reinstated to revised locations following the works.

“We have written to local residents and businesses to inform them of the changes.”
