Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 09 February 2018

The Year 5 children have had a brilliant time this week at the Kingswood Centre on their residential trip. They have represented the school in typically outstanding fashion with their enthusiasm, engagement and excellent behaviour. Well done Year 5 children – you are a credit to school and to your families.

Please can parents make sure that, over the holidays, the children complete all homework set and also ensure that they read every day and practice their Math’s passports. These basic skills need constant practice and priority especially during holiday times.

Well done to Mr Lomax’s Class with the best attendance for week ending
2 February 2018.

School is closed for Half Term next week and the children are back in school as normal on Monday 19 February. Have a wonderful family time together.

Please make sure that children do not return to school after the holidays with any lines or patterns shaved into their hair and that children with longer hair make sure that a simple band is present and not any larger flowers etc.

This week, there was a serious bump as cars queued from the dual carriageway to get into school. The queue was caused by double parking on Calder St and parents stopping there to let their children out. Please can parents not stop on Calder St. People who do so are endangering lives. Thank you.

Thank you to all parents for responding flexibly to the health and safety advice issued by the Local Authority and Fire Service to close the school on Thursday. Happily, the closure was just for one day – always better to be safe than sorry.
