Rochdale Rugby Union quiz night raised £500 for Project Harar

Date published: 05 February 2018

A quiz night held at Rochdale Rugby Union raised over £500 for Project Harar.

Project Harar volunteer Rachel Crookes was presented with the nights funds and she, along with two dozen or so medical volunteers from consultant surgeons through to specialist nurses will travel to Ethiopia next month to make operations on young people with facial disfigurements.

Steve Helliwell, RRUFC, said: “There was also other good news for the cause as an anonymous donor gave a further £1,000 and the rugby cub managed expedite considerable funds for a new defibrillator to be taken to the East African region. A special thanks to those donors.

“Many thanks to the twelve teams who took part in the quiz, your generosity is overwhelming and very much appreciated.

“Excellent raffle prizes of hampers were donated by Liz Skilling and Marylyn Beaumont and the quiz was in the format of the video quizzes in last year’s quiz league.

“Thanks also to my wife Sue for her help in organising the quiz and helping out on the night and by serving the pie and pea supper.”
