Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 05 February 2018

We are working hard to boost our reading achievement at Hamer this year. School has invested in a lot of brand new reading material for the children and this week, Pearson Books will be in school to deliver training sessions using the books with our teachers. We hope the children soon start to go home and tell parents all about their reading with renewed enthusiasm.

Good luck to the Year 5 children who are going to the Kingswood Residential on Wednesday. We can’t wait to hear all about the teamwork adventures and excellent behaviour choices when they represent Hamer off-site. Have a brilliant time Year 5.

Citizens of the week for week ending Friday 2 February 2018 are the Girls Football Team for taking part in the IPLCN Football match at The Soccer Factory.

Like the boys football team, when the team played against our colleagues from Springside special school, the girl’s ensured the enjoyment and success of both teams in a very encouraging way, showing outstanding inclusive, sporting values as well as skill and teamwork on the field. Well done Girl’s Football Team.

More Library visits took place this week with our Nursery Class. It was lovely to see so many parents here to help us with the visit. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to run such events, so we are truly grateful, as always, for your partnership in learning.

The governing Board at Hamer is seeking to recruit a co-opted Governor to join us in the strategic leadership of the school. Enquiries to the school office please and Mr Buxton-Moore will be in contact to talk to you about the role and the work of the Governing Board.

Throughout February, Rochdale Borough Libraries are holding a library fines and overdue books amnesty. Any customers with lost or overdue books are encouraged to call in to their local library and speak to a member of staff. All charges will be waived and, if necessary, a replacement membership card issued, so that returning customers can enjoy access to books, computers, e-books & e-audiobooks, wi-fi, events & activities for all the family, and much, much more.

Hamer ‘Stars of the Week’ for week ending 2 February 2018 are:
