Date published: 29 January 2018

A number of vehicles have been seized from Rooley Moor by Greater Manchester Police.

On Sunday (28 January), two off-road bikes and two Land Rovers were seized. An additional 14 warnings were issued under section 59 of the Police Reform Act, pertaining to 'Vehicles used in manner causing alarm, distress or annoyance'.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “We had some good results from our off-road bike operation. We did not catch all of them, but further operations will be conducted in future.

“Please can we reiterate that it is illegal to ride motor vehicles on the moor and the damage being caused is significant and irrecoverable. There is a knock-on effect for the livestock and the legitimate users of the moor.”
