Unemployment down by 48% since recession

The number of claimants in the borough has dropped by 48% since the recession eight years ago, according to newly published figures.

There are a total of 3,695 claimants.

Youth unemployment reduced by 66% to 725 claimants aged between 18-24 .

In the Rochdale area, there is still ongoing demand for warehouse operatives and a growing demand for support and domiciliary workers in the care sector. A variety of sector based work academies on offer in the area includes customer services, warehouse, contact centres, bus drivers, healthcare, security, hospitality, support worker, sewing machinists, stewards.
