Police refuse to investigate crime despite clear CCTV footage

A local businessman whose credit card was cloned and used to make over £200 worth of purchases is angry after police refused to investigate despite clear CCTV footage showing the perpetrators and their car.

The two con artists, a tall white man and a woman, got away with cigarettes and a mobile phone.

However, despite leaving the businessman with the hassle of having to cancel his card and arrange for a new one, and the two shops facing being charged back, the police say they will not investigate as "there wasn’t a victim in this case so as there wasn’t a threat of harm or risk, it wasn’t proportionate to pursue the crime when those resources could be deployed elsewhere".
