Kirkholt Pantry volunteers and RBH employees celebrate the Pantry’s first birthday
It was party time for Kirkholt Pantry members on Thursday 18 January as the Pantry celebrated its first birthday.
For £3 per week, members can visit the pantry, which is located on the Strand, and choose a basket of groceries - with the average basket having a value of over £12.
To mark the Pantry's first birthday, pantry members were invited to join volunteers and RBH employees for a buffet and cake as they came in for their weekly shop.
The Pantry launched in January 2017 and is run by local volunteers, with support and funding from the RBH Community Partnership Team.
Hazel Garner, Kirkholt Pantry volunteer, said: “I have been a volunteer for the pantry since the opening a year ago and it has helped me build my self-confidence.
“The food that comes in each week is of really good quality and I have saved so much money.
“The support we have had from Zahida and the RBH team has been really encouraging. I would encourage all Kirkholt RBH members who are eligible to sign up to the pantry.”
