Five-star catering for all at Whitworth Community High School

Date published: 24 January 2018

A school kitchen that serves up to 600 lunch customers in 40 minutes has been awarded the top food hygiene rating of five.

Whitworth Community High School provides three service points for its busy lunchtime schedule: pasta, sandwiches and hot food.

Catering Manager Diane Longstaff said: “On top of the lunch service, we have around 200 customers at break and breakfast on top.

“I have nine members of staff in the team and everyone gets on really well and helps each other.

“Now we operate a cashless system in the dining hall it is even busier and there are more students at the school too.”

Diana has worked at Whitworth since 1984 and been Catering Manager since 1994.

She added: “I like the busyness of it, days go really quickly, and no two days are ever the same.”
