Nominations invited for Mayor’s youth awards

Nominations have opened for the Mayor’s Youth Awards - now in their seventh year the awards recognise and celebrate the achevements, contributions and developments of young people across the Rochdale borough.

Nominations are sought to recognise young people who have made a real difference to the people in their lives, whether it is through work in the community, sporting achievement or commitment to their friends and family.

Mayor Ian Duckworth, said: “These awards reward the young people who are making a positive impact in our borough through their own hard work, compassion and dedication. It is important that they get recognised for the work they are doing as we are all very grateful for it.”

Diane Higgins, from Rochdale Council youth service, said: “These awards are always so inspiring, we get amazing nominations in that really do to reflect the remarkable talent and dedication we have in our young people.

"It is a proud occasion for the council’s youth service and we can not wait to read the new nominations.”

The winners will be selected by young people from Milnrow Youth Club, who are organising this year’s award ceremony. Those shortlisted and all nominees will be invited to the award ceremony on Thursday 19 April 2018.

Anyone can nominate a young person who lives in the borough aged 11-19, or up to 25 if they have a disability.

The closing date for nominations is 18 February 2018.
