There is only a week to donate to this year’s Christmas Toy Appeal and help give local children living in poverty a great Christmas Day.
The appeal, which helps make sure local children have presents to open on Christmas Day, is organised by the Council staff-run ‘Giving Back’ charity.
Residents and staff are asked to buy one extra present at Christmas – a new, unwrapped gift suitable for a child between 0-16-years-old - and leave it at a local library by Wednesday 13 December.
Council lawyer Helen Leach, from Giving Back, said: “Once again I am so pleased to see that residents and staff have really got behind it but some children do still go without, so we always need more gifts.
"We will ensure all the gifts go to very worthwhile homes and those that receive them get a lot of joy.”
Toys can be dropped off at any of the borough’s 17 libraries.
