Science Club make squidgy slime and mummified apples

Date published: 05 December 2017

Squidgy slime and mummified apples are just two of the experiments enjoyed by the new Science Club members at Whitworth Community High School.

Science teachers Emma Trivett and Georgina Bentham run the new club every Tuesday lunch time at the school for Year 7 and 8 and 50 students went along to the first session.

Georgina Brown, 11, said: “We do experiments, and we made mummified apples by cutting an apple in half, cutting a face into it then adding salt and a chemical.”

Troy Swanick, 11, said the club was good fun and he enjoyed learning how things worked.

It has helped Cain Blackburn, 13, with his Science studies.

He said: “I like Science and enjoy that we get to do lots of experiments and learn more about the subject.”
