Staff from Whittaker Moss Primary School were presented with a cheque for £1,683.36 on Saturday (25 November) by the local Co-op store.
The money, raised by Co-op members through the local charity cause scheme, will be going towards football posts and netball posts for the children to use in the new ball park at the school.
Whittaker Moss has been part of the local community fund since April, which receives 1% of the money spent on selected own-brand products by Co-op members.
Shoppers can select their own cause to benefit from their 1%, and any money raised by members who don’t select a cause is added to the money raised from shopping bag sales. This is shared equally between the causes in their local area.
To help boost their share, the school has held taster days in the playground, so parents could try the products before buying.
Whittaker Moss also been reselected for the cause until October next year, where the funds will go towards trampolines for the children to use in school.
