Poppy Appeal

We are pleased to announce that, in partnership with Springside, we raised £287.84 for this worthy cause. Thanks to everyone who supported this charity by buying a poppy.

Care Week in school next week

Parents, have had several letters recently about Care Week which will be running across school next week. The aim of the week is to promote caring for ourselves and others and, as part of this week, we will be running exciting workshops across school.

The children will all be learning basic first aid on Monday or Tuesday, with children in KS2 also learning CPR and how to restart a heart using a defibrillator like the one we have in school. We will have the dental health team in EYFS and KS1 and Healthy Hearts will be running workshops on Friday.

Some classes will be doing yoga, whilst others will be carrying out experiments on basic hygiene. We will be looking at road safety and will make links to anti bullying from a previous theme week.

All in all, it will be a fantastic opportunity to enrich the curriculum at Hamer and we are very excited about it. Can parents please make sure they ask the children what they have been doing each day.

Food Bank

Linked to Care Week, we are asking for donations for the Rochdale foodbank, who are extremely low on supplies at the moment. A letter was sent home this week detailing some items that they are particularly in need of, though all items will be gratefully received.

Please send your donations into school by Thursday 30 November at the latest, as we have a representative coming to assembly on Friday to collect the items. Consequently, there will be no celebration assembly next week, though parents please feel free to join us at the Foodbank assembly if you wish.

Maths Passports

The prize draw for Passports will take place on Friday 8 December can parents please make sure children are practicing these basic skills at home so that they have more tickets in the draw and therefore more chances of winning.
