Middleton Halloween Heritage Trail in Jubilee Park
This year’s Halloween Heritage Trail encompassed a new route and new tales about Middleton - both historical and spooky.
Walks took place at 8pm on both Friday 27 October and Monday 30 October, with an earlier time of 6pm on both days for those with children.
The Friday 'walkers' finished their trail and enjoyed a pie and pea supper at The Ring o Bells Pub - said to be one of the most haunted pubs in the North.
The Monday 'walkers' completed their trail and had their pie and peas at The Olde Boars Head, understood to be the longest trading public house in the UK, having been trading continuously since 1632. The pub is also rumoured to have been a stopping point for infamous highwayman Dick Turpin en route to his execution in York.
Town Centre and Market Manager, Victoria Davies, said: “The event proved once again to be very popular with over 100 people joining us over the two days.
“We are now looking forward to next big event for Middleton, which is the Christmas lights switch-on, on Saturday 18 November. We hope to see lots of people there.”
