Harvest Festival Thanksgiving Assembly

We celebrated our annual harvest festival thanksgiving assembly. All year groups from Reception up to Year 11 took part, and we celebrated with both staff and parents.

We were lucky to have two special guests join us and help to lead our assembly. They were the Vicar of Rochdale, Reverend Mark Coleman and his colleague Amy Sheridan.

The Headteacher, Mr Howard, gave everybody a warm welcome. The tables in the hall were full of donations made by the students and their parents and was beautifully displayed. The head girl Isabella Zebedee-Howard and students from all year groups gave readings about the history of harvest and why we celebrate it.

The Beech House School choir gave a wonderful performance of Lin Marsh's 'Orange and yellow and brown' and 'Babala', a Ugandan harvest song.

The Vicar of Rochdale, Mark Coleman, with the help of his colleague Amy Sheridan blessed the harvest gifts and we all said a prayer to express our gratitude for what we have in our lives.

The Reverend Mark also explained the importance of family and all that is needed to provide food for us all, from a wriggly worm to a factory worker packaging and supplying our food. Reverend Mark chose students to be a variety of creatures which was highly entertaining for us all to watch.

We enjoyed singing the hymns 'All Things Bright and Beautiful' and 'Who Put the Colours in the Rainbow?'

Our head boy Gareth Tattershall explained that the donations given were going to be received by Petrus - a local charity that provides food and shelter for the homeless people.

Mr Howard finished the assembly by thanking everybody for their support.

It was a successful morning and Petrus will benefit from the school's continuing support and contribution.

Outdoor Activities at Hollingworth Lake

Students from Beech House were chosen to represent the school at Hollingworth Lake taking part in activities such as, archery, rock climbing and mountain biking.

These students were, Charlie Egerton, Tasmin Ali, Jasmie Slater and Jessica Nuttall.

Each of these students were taken out of their comfort zone, taking part in some activities they have never tried.

Charlie really excelled in the archery, hitting multiple bullseyes. Not only this, he and Jess, cycled miles around Hollingworth Lake, taking part in different adventure courses along the trail.

Both Tasmin and Jasmine put their fears to test and did themselves proud, by climbing up the rock wall, exceeding all expectations, proving you can do anything if you put your mind to it.

Not only this, they also showed great determination throughout their time on the bike, something they weren’t entirely comfortable with.

All students represented the school in an admirable fashion, and were great support to one another throughout the day. They are a credit to the school and should be extremely proud of what they achieved that day.
