Man on roof closes Albert Royds Street at Smallbridge roundabout

Albert Royds Street is closed in both directions between Roch Street and its junction (roundabout) with Halifax Road at Smallbridge due to a man on a roof on Albert Royds Street on Wednesday (25 October). 

A police spokesperson confirmed they were called at 3.40pm and officers are negotiating with the man. 

She said: "We are concerned for the welfare of the man and those around."

The fire service are believed to be in attendance.

UPDATE
5.45pm

The man is safely down from the roof and is being checked over by the North West Ambulance Service. Police expect to reopen the road soon.
