Eaton-Dykes family win Middleton in Bloom scarecrow contest
Date published: 25 October 2017
The Eaton-Dykes family were announced as the winners of the Middleton in Bloom scarecrow contest on Tuesday (24 October) at Springvale Youth Centre.
The family won a special Middleton in Bloom trophy, plus a £20 garden centre gift voucher and a certificate.
Second place went to the Kunyo family, who were awarded with a certificate and a big bag of Celebrations chocolates.
The Rochdale Youth Service disability group took home third prize of a commemorative certificate.
Youth Worker Organiser Jill Amos said: "Thank you so much to everyone for taking part this year. Next year we will start the competition earlier so people can display their scarecrows in their garden centres before bringing them to be judged."
Nine entries were received in total, which were judged by the Middleton in Bloom team. Entrants were treated to a potato pie supper plus fun and games, including apple bobbing and colouring.
