Elderly man in serious condition following collision with a car in Heywood

A 78-year-old man is in hospital in a serious condition following a collision with a car on Bury New Road, Heywood on Saturday (21 October).

A blue Peugeot 206 had been travelling along the road towards Heywood, when it was involved in a collision with the man who was crossing the road.

Police Constable Dermot Murray of GMP’s Serious Collision Unit, said: “This collision has left an elderly man in hospital with some very serious injuries.

“Our team of specialist officers are supporting the man’s family at this very difficult time.

“This happened on a busy road, so I’m asking for anyone who was in the area and has dash-cam footage, or who saw something that could help with our investigation, to please get in touch.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 4741 or 101, quoting incident number 1930 of 21/10/17. This can also be done anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
