Birch Community group has open day for new gym

Birch Community group opened a new gym on Monday (9 October).

The modest gym features a crosstrainer, exercise bike, two treadmills, rowing machine plus a weighted bench.

Refreshments and sign-up forms for those wishing to use the gym were also available.

Run by three volunteers at Green Meadow in Wardle, the non-profit group run a variety of activities from the building, which was two houses knocked into one.

Currently the centre is also used by a children’s club, and activities such as boxercise.

The gym is open for anyone over the age of 16 to use on a ‘pay as you gym basis’ for a small fee of 50 pence. Anyone aged 16 to 18 needs to be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18.
