Man rescued by firefighters from kitchen fire on Tweedale Street

A man was rescued from a kitchen fire in a flat on Tweedale Street, Rochdale by firefighters; he was taken to hospital by ambulance crews.

Three crews from Rochdale and Heywood were called to a fire at a flat on Tweedale Street, Rochdale at 5.49am on Monday (9 October).

On arrival crews found a fire in the kitchen and used breathing apparatus, a hose reel, a thermal imaging camera, specialist tools and a ventilation fan.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.

A spokesperson for GMFRS said: "Crews would like to remind people to take care when cooking, never to leave cooking unattended and to not cook while drunk."
