Whitworth Town Council taking part in UK Parliament Week

Date published: 06 October 2017

Whitworth Town Council will be taking part in UK Parliament Week, which takes place between 13 and 19 November.

The Council will invite children from local schools and voluntary groups to visit the council chamber during Parliament Week, meet with town, borough and county councillors and MP, Jake Berry.

The children will get the opportunity ask questions about how the democracy system works and quiz local representatives.

Following this the children will sit in the councillor’s chairs and hold their own mock council meeting to resolve a difficult local issue, that of dangerous and illegal parking outside local primary schools.

A spokesperson said: "This is a frequently complained about local issue and it will be interesting to see what solutions the children can come up with."
